phone: (+359 2) 979 2746, e-mail: k.petrov@iees.bas.bg

Research area

Research in the Department of Electrocatalysis and Electrocrystallizaton is focused on studying the influence of electrode surface structure on the formation of the electric double layer and on the processes of adsorption and electrocatalysis. The processes and mechanisms of electrocrystallization and electrodeposition of metals are also investigated. The Department’s activities include also development of electrodes for storage of hydrogen in metal hydrides, for Zinc-air batteries, for high temperature electrolysis, as well as electrodes and electrode materials for fuel cells (e.g. H2S/O2, bio-fuel cells, etc.).
